Merit Badges
Merit Badges are awards that you earn by completing the specific set of requirements that apply to that specific merit badge. There are two different types of merit badges, Normal and Eagle-required . Normal merit badges make up the majority of merit badges. They include hobbies, and generally fun things to do. Eagle-required merit badges are slightly harder to get than normal merit badges. They include skills that are determinedly important for reaching the highest rank of scouting. Merit Badges are required for some Scouting Ranks such as Star Rank (4 Eagle-required & 2 normal) Life Rank (3 Eagle-required & 2 normal) And Eagle Rank (6 Eagle-required and 4 normal). You can gain merit badges in many ways. Notable places are at War-tut-ca scout reservation where the troop goes for a week every summer sometimes we will hold meetings where we sit down and work on a merit badge together. There are over 100 merit badges and you can collect more than the required 21, you can collect as many as you want. Try to see how many you can get.
